A notebook that learns with you

Missed a character? It’ll return before you move on. Take your time—there’s no timer here.

Test always shuffles the questions and covers every selected character once. Write hiragana in the forward direction or type romaji in reverse; see your results at the end.

04 Character order
  1. Recall, then write.

Try the sound first. Use “Show strokes” when you need a little help; that character will return for another try.

  2. Use your finger, mouse, or pen.

Lift between strokes. The center guides help with balance. Undo removes your last stroke.

  3. Compare the whole shape.

Handwriting checks are approximate. Look at the reference after checking. They don’t grade stroke order or calligraphy.

  4. Listen along.

Pronunciation uses a Japanese voice from your browser or device. If one isn’t available, romaji stays visible. “di” and “du” label the d-row characters pronounced “ji” and “zu.”
